Not every vehicle sits on the main lot. Part of our stock is kept at holding lots close by, so telling us which one you want to see lets us have it ready before you arrive. Coming without notice is fine as well, it usually takes about ten minutes to bring one down.
Four wheel drive earns its keep on unpaved drives, job sites, boat ramps and the handful of mornings a year when the roads around here get interesting. The rest of the time it is extra weight and extra fuel.
That is not an argument against it. It is an argument for being honest about the ninety percent of your driving rather than the ten percent, because you pay for the capability whether or not you use it. If you genuinely need it, buy it and do not apologize. If you are buying it for two mornings a year, the money might be better spent elsewhere.
When you drive one, put it in four wheel drive and feel the difference. High range is for wet pavement and gravel. Low range is for a boat ramp, or for pulling something out of soft ground.
Four wheel drive is usually something you switch on when you need it and is built for low-speed traction on loose ground. All wheel drive is generally always working and is aimed at grip on the road in poor weather. Both are listed on the vehicle, and which one suits you depends on where you actually drive.
Engage it on the test drive, high and low if the vehicle has both. It should go in without grinding, without a warning light, and you should feel it take up. Anyone who is reluctant to let you try it has answered a different question.
For most people, no. North Georgia gets a handful of mornings a year where it genuinely helps. It is worth having if you are on an unpaved drive, towing off grass, or on the road when others are not.
A little. There is more weight, more to service and a small fuel penalty. None of it is dramatic, but it is a real cost you carry all year for capability you may use occasionally.
