Cochran Motor Company is a locally owned lot on North Broad Street in Rome, serving Rome, Floyd County and the towns around them. We keep it small on purpose. There are 42 vehicles on it today, mostly trucks and SUVs, and we would rather turn down five than put one out front we would not want a neighbor to end up with.
The lot opened in 2025. The experience behind it is longer than that: more than ten years in the automotive industry before the doors here ever opened. This is a family business, and the name on the sign belongs to the person you will meet when you come in.
What that buys you is simple. There is no separate used-car department, no rotating sales floor, and nobody here works to a quota that outranks the person buying. If something is wrong with a vehicle we sold, the person who bought it is standing in the same building.
TJ opened the lot in 2025, after more than ten years in the automotive industry. The picture is opening day, and the people in it are the reason it is a family business rather than a description of one.
He describes the job the same way every time he is asked: doing business the right way, with honesty, hard work, and a handshake you can trust. He is on the lot, and he is the person you will meet when you come in.
Harrison grew up here and graduated from Rome High School in 2017, then went to Union College in Kentucky on a baseball scholarship and finished in 2021. He married Bella in 2022, and he has been in the car business three years and counting.
Christian is 27 and graduated from Pepperell High School in 2018. He married Bailey in July 2023 and they are expecting a baby boy. He has been selling cars since May 2021, which suits him: he is a lifelong NASCAR fan, and when he is not on the lot there is a good chance he is at a car show or at the track.
Every vehicle we take in gets its title and history checked before it goes on the lot. That is why all 42 vehicles in stock right now carry a clean title, and why none of them has reported frame damage. A vehicle history report is available on 40 of them, and 23 show a single previous owner.
Those are not marketing numbers. They come straight out of our inventory system and this page recounts them every time the site rebuilds, so if it ever stops being true, it will stop saying so.
