The other is bought to carry a family: crew cab, the short bed, leather, four full doors and a back seat an adult can use. Ford builds both, from XL up through Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, and they share a name and a frame and very little else.
The rest of the range means something different than it did ten years ago. Ford wound down its North American sedans between 2018 and 2020, so a used Ford today is a truck, an SUV or a Mustang, the last traditional car it sells here. What the company offers in place of the sedans runs from the Explorer and the Escape to the Bronco and the Maverick, a compact unibody pickup introduced for 2022 for people who never wanted anything F-Series sized.
