That is the honest trade. You are not buying a bargain. You are buying the back half of a working life, and paying a premium at purchase for the confidence that the back half happens.
That math suits a keeper rather than somebody who trades every three years. The 4Runner and the Tacoma ran on unusually long cycles, so a 2015 is not a different vehicle from a 2022. That stretch ended with the redesigns for 2024 and 2025, and nearly everything on the used market here comes from the long run before them. Where a truck is expected to be working in a decade, that continuity is the point.
